Austin Housing Coalition and Mueller Foundation Launch New Affordable Homeownership Portal

July 29, 2026

Innovative partnership creates a single destination for affordable rentals and homeownership opportunities while helping more Austinites navigate the path to owning a home.

AUSTIN, Texas (July 29, 2026) — Building on the momentum created when the Austin City Council proclaimed April 9 as Austin Housing Coalition Day, the Austin Housing Coalition (AHC) and the Mueller Foundation have launched a new online affordable housing portal that expands access to affordable homeownership opportunities across Austin.

The new platform reflects the Austin Housing Coalition’s ongoing commitment to connecting residents with affordable housing options and the Mueller Foundation’s mission of making homeownership more attainable for income-qualified buyers.

For the first time, the platform available at https://austinhousingcoalition.org/affordable brings affordable homes for sale alongside affordable rental opportunities in one easy-to-use website. Visitors can seamlessly toggle between Rentals and Homeownership, allowing them to explore the housing options that best fit their needs.

The homeownership experience has been customized for the Mueller Affordable Homes Program, providing prospective buyers with the tools and information needed to confidently begin their homeownership journey. Features include:

  • Income-tiered pricing information
  • Available home types
  • Virtual home tours
  • A prominent “Get Qualified” action on every listing, allowing prospective buyers to immediately begin the qualification process

As additional affordable homeownership providers join the platform, the experience will continue to expand, creating a centralized resource for affordable homeownership opportunities throughout the Austin area.

“This partnership is about making affordable homeownership easier to find, easier to understand and easier to access,” said Robin Lafleur, Executive Director of the Mueller Foundation. “Whether someone is just beginning to explore homeownership or is ready to purchase, this portal provides the information and resources they need to take the next step.”

The platform was designed and built in partnership with Ron Rivers of Tributary (trib.xyz), a firm specializing in operationalizing AI for public-good and civic infrastructure. Tributary served as program architect for the portal, developing the AI-driven listing architecture that power both the rental and homeownership experiences.

Providers can now independently upload listings using common file formats as well as understand prospective buyer engagement through improved analytics of the platform.

“In April, the City of Austin recognized the Austin Housing Coalition’s longstanding leadership by proclaiming April 9 as Austin Housing Coalition Day,” said Abby Tatkow, Austin Housing Coalition Past Chair. “These new portal enhancements are another example of what can be accomplished when organizations work together to remove barriers and connect more families with affordable housing opportunities.”
